Men's month for Ipas Bolivia

November 19 is Men's Day, and Ipas Bolivia has launched a month-long awareness-raising campaign on masculinities and gender-based violence prevention. As part of this campaign, specific activities are being carried out to inform, educate and, above all, involve men in this initiative. To this end, social networks have been the strong point of dissemination, although traditional media were also used.

In this sense, the first activity developed was the short story contest "The thousand and one ways in which men live our masculinities"[1], aimed at the participation of the general public and, on the other hand, of the networks of active masculinities. The contest was promoted via social networks, posts were made and an informative talk about it was held. The result was that around 100 stories were received in both categories. In parallel to this activity, several awareness-raising posts on masculinities[2] were published, which are also part of this month's campaign.

The stories were judged by a panel of judges experienced in literature and with an awareness of masculinities. The three winners in each category were chosen and recognized through social media posts on November 16, 17 and 18, as part of the preamble to "Men's Day", on the 19th. In addition, their stories were illustrated and compiled into a compilation to be disseminated digitally.

Basically three different activities were planned for this day:

- Media tour: Director Malena Morales and Ipas Bolivia's masculinities team attended several media outlets (radio and television) to talk about Men's Day and the importance of promoting new masculinities as an alternative way of life and a way to prevent violence.

- Men's Day Special with Pica: The communications team promoted a strategic alliance with the Pica program, which specializes in youth and educational issues, to carry out an unprecedented Men's Day special on Pica's television program and also on social networks. As a first activity, a conversation was held via Facebook Live [3].

- Dramatized storytelling night: After choosing the winning stories, the team contacted the theatre company Tabla Roja, who proceeded to dramatize the winning works and present them in a storytelling night, broadcasted via Facebook Live.
