A 17-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law for about a year. The mother discovered that her daughter was pregnant; after a medical examination she found out that she was five months pregnant.

The director of the Special Force to Combat Violence (FELCV) of Cochabamba, Rubén Darío Lobatón, reported Monday that the complaint was filed by the victim's mother in police offices in the municipality of Sipe Sipe, on January 2. According to preliminary investigations, the victim was raped by her 26-year-old brother-in-law, who threatened to kill her sister, her mother and other close relatives.

The victim was afraid and hid the fact that she was being sexually assaulted until her body could no longer remain silent. The assailant was known to be violent and told her that he had firearms with which he could kill her family members if she let them know what happened when they were alone.
